Theory.
John Hartley (1987) suggested that media producers create 'invisible fictions' of their target audience.

Ien Ang (1991) similarly argued that all media producers create 'imaginary entities' of their target audience before creating a media product.

Ideal customer.
Kate is 39 years old and grew up in Surrey but has recently moved over to Sheffield. Kate has owned 2 vintage music shops one in London and one in Sheffield, she loves her job because she gets to listen to all different generations of music all day. Kate's favourite music era is the 80's she loves Duran Duran and ABC. In her younger years she starred in her own 80's tribute band called The Durans but broke up when she opened her music shop in London. Kate's look is inspired by her two favourite female artists Cyndi Lauper and Toyah Wilcox. Kate's income from her job goes towards her seeing retro bands on a weekend and going to 80's festivals.

Steel City festival is an 80's pop and rock festival. Everyone who attends this festival must be dressed in bright colours to match the 80's theme. The people who come tend to be from the 80's era but all ages are welcome. Both male and female genders attend this colourful festival, it allows you to chill and have a good time and listen and watch bands of the best era of all time. There will be 5 headliners of the festival and 120 other bands, all performers which play at this music festival are all located from Sheffield. The price of the festival will be about £6 for a day ticket and £21 for a weekend ticket. If you come for the weekend there are hotels nearby where you can check into and stay each night after the festival. There are a few health and safety risks which all people who are planning on attending this festival require to look through before entering, No drugs can be brought into the festival, you will be fully checked before entering so it's pretty pointless to even try to sneak them in, if you happen to be caught with any type of drug you will immediately be taken out of the festival and then further consequences. Alcohol must only be brought if you are 18 and over but it may also be bought at the stalls in the festival area, if you do decide to bring alcohol make sure it is not glass or it will be taken away. Security will be at all exits and entrances and fire escapes making sure there is no trespassing more security will also be round the stage areas. The welfare tent is near the main stage so if you are injured you can visit the tent for care. Aerosols must not be packed due to pollution of the air and people who are asthmatic. If you have taken in these health and safety regulations then get ready to party and have great weekend.
